2026 Open Reading Full-Length Poetry (BIPOC WRITERS)

Ends on

Please read through our guidelines carefully before submitting.

GUIDELINES:

  • We accept poetry and hybrid books between 50-100 pages, excluding front and back matter.
  • Simultaneous submissions are okay. Please withdraw your work immediately if it is accepted elsewhere.
  • Once work is submitted, it can not be revised or edited. If your submission is selected, you will have the opportunity to submit a revised manuscript. Please do not email revised versions of the original works or attach revisions to your submission on Submittable. We will not consider it.
  • We only accept unpublished works. Sections previously published as a chapbook or individual poems are okay, but the manuscript as a whole should be unpublished. Self-publishing is considered published.
  • We do not accept work generated with the use of generative AI.
  • Manuscripts must include a table of contents.
  • No preambles or bios should appear in the manuscript.
  • Submit as .pdf or .docx. We recommend a 12pt font. Be mindful of margins by considering how likely a poem can fit a book-sized trim. We recommend 1.5inch margins on all sides of the manuscript, though this is not required for submitting.
  • International writers are welcome to submit.
  • Submit as many times as you'd like, provided each manuscript is submitted with its own separate entry.
  • We rarely accept work that includes color images, and manuscripts with images should not exceed 10% of the manuscript.
  • An acknowledgments section detailing where poems have been previously published is okay but not required.
  • Please include a synopsis of the work in the designated fields on Submittable. A well-crafted synopsis demonstrates to us that the author is well-versed in their book's central question and craft concerns and can effectively communicate these qualities.
  • We ask that you submit a statement of craft interest in place of an author’s bio. This update to our submissions screening guidelines aims to protect writers from the pressures to flatten real, lived experiences into a series of codification. For many of us, our identity and craft are intricately linked, so we'd like to hear what motivates your writing, how so, and why which we find is often nuanced, complicated, and layered.
We use Submittable to accept and review our submissions.
